Peri-Menopausal, Menopause
Heavier blood flow can be part of other early menopausal symptoms such as a longer cycles, exhaustion, missed periods, night sweats, anxiety, insomnia and hot flushes. Acupuncturists see the menopause as a natural physiological process. We never aim to suppress symptoms but work to improve homeostasis so that the body can cope better.
During the first consultation Hanna always take a woman’s complete health and lifestyle into account with the understanding that by improving your nutritional status; the quality of your sleep; how you rest and exercise as well as the relaxing and stress reducing effects of acupuncture you can help hormones regulate better and reduce menopausal symptoms to manageable levels.
In a summary of recent research the Acupuncture Research Resource Centre concluded that acupuncture can reduce hot flushes (Di Conchetti 1989; Grille et al 1989; Wyon et al 1994) and help menopause related anxiety and depression (Limarti and Ricciarelli 1989).
In the Grille et al study group, 45 menopausal women were given either, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), acupuncture or no treatment. In the final blood results of the HRT and acupuncture groups both showed similar increases in oestrogen, oestradiol.
