Pain
Acupuncture helps pain in a number of ways. It reduces inflammation, intercepts and cuts off pain signals, increases endorphins, relaxes tight muscles and improves blood flow to and from injured areas. It also relaxes the nervous system so that sufferers are able to cope better with pain.
In 1997, several years before becoming an acupuncturist, Hanna completed a training in massage in San Francisco with physical therapist, Meir Schneider www.self-healing.org. She taught eye exercises, self-massage techniques and developed exercise programmes to help people with chronic eye conditions. She also specialised in the treatment of degenerative muscle and nervous system conditions such as muscular dystrophy and M.S. She continued this work back in London and held clinics and workshops in Portugal and France and still uses the techniques to treat new and long-standing patients.
She uses her physical therapy and massage training to inform her work as an acupuncturist and will include exercises, stretches and passive movements as well as massage alongside acupuncture treatment.
