Post-Natal Depression
" I began to suffer from extreme anxiety and insomnia about three months after my son was born. I was prescribed medication and had psycho-therapy but I also began to have acupuncture. At first I saw, Hanna twice a week. After each session I felt more relaxed, slept better and began to feel less overwhelmed, agitated and able to cope. I am now off all medication and am back at work, " Janine
To make sure women avoid getting to the point where they are sad, tearful, irritable and depressed it is vital to seek help quickly from your health visitor, midwife or G.P and to talk to friends and family about getting the help you need to recuperate.
Better still make sure you have extra childcare cover, a cleaner or doula to help you at home and book post-natal treatments for acupuncture and other therapies before you have your baby.
Acupuncture quickly resolves exhaustion and the ’baby blues’. And in conjunction with other treatments particularly counselling, nutritional therapy and medical attention can really help more serious post-natal depression.
