Headaches

Acupuncture is good at reducing the frequency and intensity of migraines and stress headaches and can often resolve them completely. Caffeine, alcohol and certain foods are well known triggers for most patients with migraines. But poor eating habits: skipping breakfast and eating late at night; combined with the build up of emotional stress, overwork, poor quality sleep and lack of rest can also eventually contribute to adrenal strain and nutritional and hormonal imbalance which in those who are susceptible lead to headaches.

Examining and changing common daily habits with guidance and support combined with a course of acupuncture to relax the nervous system, strengthen the digestion, resolve emotional blocks, deepen sleep and resolve stress brings the body back into a healthier rhythm and not only helps sufferers get better but will stop headaches recurring.

In a study of a sample group of 4000 patients in the UK - pain scores showed a 34% improvement in the acupuncture group compared to only a 16% improvement for the standard medical treatment (Vickers et al, 2004) (ARRC- Acupuncture Research Council )
